Day 13: The Beautiful (part 5)

Today is Friday the 13th and for many it is a big deal, at least for those who still entertain the idea of horror, curse and evil (Friggatriskaidekaphobia). I am sure many people even the kids of this generation don’t look it that way anymore; it’s more of excitement and enjoyment over fear and impending tragedy. It’s like one of those anticipated TGIFs, only that today it took place on the 13thday of the month.

This afternoon, I accompanied a monsignor to a mall (Porta di Roma). Finding a parking space has been one of the common hassles when going to a mall. The monsignor reminded me about Friday the 13th insinuating (as if) we’ll be in trouble in finding a space because of that (of course he’s kidding). But Alas, we conveniently found a place just at the exact moment he maneuvered the car to the left side of the parking lot. We said to each other, we’re lucky. But guess what we have discovered when we got off the car (look at the picture below):

I immediately thought, this isn't lucky, this is benissimo! Moral lesson of the story: we lose so much when we make superstitions a big deal. We should be saying instead, TGIF 13th (Thank God it’s Friday the 13th).

to be continued...
